Vintage set of 3 1970’s traditional Japanese Kokeshi dolls
These beautifully hand painted Kokeshi doll are a Japanese traditional piece which is gifted to a new born baby.
They are said to bring them luck.
Each piece is different, hand decorated with flowers.
The artist, Matagoro has signed the back of each. Made from cedar wood, this set have a minimalist aesthetic, others tend to be heavily lacquered, these show the grain of the wood so do have age related marks.
This collection would look lovely on a shelf. The two largest are larger than average sized.
Large 42.5cm high 8.5cm wide
Medium 36.5cm high 8.5cm wide
Small. 25cm high 5cm wide
